It may be a fraudulent ad. Check the offer and seller very carefully and do not pay in advance! Our partners at Watchlist Internet ( HERE ) have taken up the topic.

Firewood fraud is booming

New fake shops for cheap firewood reported to us. All reported fake shops can be found on Watchlist Internet's list of fraudulent online shops ( HERE ).

Fraudulent offers are also published on all common online marketplaces and in the Facebook Marketplace. We looked for firewood offers on Facebook Marketplace and found numerous dubious advertisements. We advise caution! Check sellers very carefully.

Check offers carefully

We'll show you how to find out whether an offer is serious:

  • Is the price very tempting? Then it is most likely fake. Use the search engine to find the current price of wood per cubic meter to estimate whether an offer is realistic.
  • Take a close look at the profile . Be careful if it was recently created. Is there activity or information in the account? Does the person have Facebook friends?
  • Read the description of the advertisement carefully. Is all information given?
  • Do the sellers claim that they are a lumber company ? Then they should also provide an imprint or the company should be found on the Internet. Stay away if there are no company details!
  • Is the salesperson putting you under pressure ? strange feeling when communicating ? Then you shouldn't buy it!
  • Do the sellers want you to pay in advance ? Remember, a transfer cannot be reversed! If you pay in advance, you must be very sure that the offer is serious. Also, do not pay using the PayPal “Send Money to Friends” function or with Paysafecards.

This is how you can find information about sellers in the Marketplace

How long a profile has existed, what information is disclosed on the profile and what offers someone else publishes are important indicators for assessing the seriousness of sellers. We'll show you where you can find this information.
