Be careful with car tire bargains
If the price is much cheaper than the competition, you should be careful. Fake shops usually offer products below market value in order to rip off as many people as possible. It's best to compare prices on price comparison platforms such as idealo.at or geizhals.at to find out the realistic price.
Do not pay in advance
Advance payment is a popular payment method for fake shops. Since an advance transfer is final and is very difficult to stop or retrieve, we recommend that you avoid advance transfers.
Very often, fake shops promise different payment options on their website. It is only when you check out that you realize that only a “direct bank transfer” is available. Sometimes it is even possible to click on a PayPal or credit card payment. However, you will receive feedback saying that this payment is currently experiencing technical problems and that you should please choose another method. Then you know it's a fake shop! Here you can find out how to pay safely online .
Look for testimonials
Search the online shop on the Internet. To do this, use the internet address and keywords such as fake or experiences (e.g. reifenhandel-steinbach.com fake). You will usually be warned not to shop there. If you don't find any relevant results, you should also be careful!
Check the information in the legal notice
Fake shops invent data in the legal notice or steal it from other companies. Please check whether the information is correct. Find the address on a mapping service such as Google Maps. Often there is a completely different company or residential building there. You can check the company name in directories - Austrian companies in the Companies AZ of the WKO and German companies in the commercial register .
If you are unsure about a shop, report it to the Internet Watchlist . We analyze it and, if necessary, add it to our list of fraudulent online shops .
