This story is spreading internationally, but nothing about it is true!

A man from Uganda named Joe Rwamirama is said to have very special flatulence: His flatulences allegedly contain a gas that is deadly for mosquitoes, which even works over several kilometers and keeps mosquitoes away from his village. This not only prevents annoying mosquito bites, but also keeps his village free of malaria. After “ The Sun ” and “ BBC ” already reported about it, even the German site “ Stern ” took up the story “ Talk of Naija ” is supposed to have reported about first.

Deadly gas for mosquitoes?

The first source

However, “Talk of Naija” was not the first page to report about the man with the mosquito deadly evaporation, but a page called “Ihlaya News (npas)”.

With such a strange name for a news site, it sometimes makes sense to just use a translator, because then you'll get on the right track:

Ihlaya = A joke

If you now take a look at the other articles on the site – “ Woman who holds record for most abortions celebrates her 100th abortion at 38 “, “ Mother of a boy born with 3 penises decline free surgery “, “ Straight homophobic man keep wondering “if he is gay ” – it becomes even more suspicious.

But the best clue is the header of the page!

Parody = parody
Parody = parody

We also know the word “parody” in this country, the complete subtitle “nuusparodie waarvan jy hou” is Afrikaans and means “news parodies you like”.

Conclusion

As amusing as it sounds, scientists now want to investigate the man in order to be able to produce an effective remedy against mosquitoes from his flatulences: He doesn't even exist.

It is a pure satirical article on a satirical page.
