Elon Musk should offer the opportunity to double Bitcoins or Ethereum. And it's very simple: you transfer cryptocurrency to a specific wallet and get twice as much back. But be careful! Our cooperation partner Watchlist Internet warns: You transfer money to criminals and lose money.
Elon Musk is being used as an advertising figure for cryptocurrency fraud. Fake videos continue to appear on YouTube in which entrepreneur Elon Musk allegedly gives recommendations on cryptocurrencies. As a “giveaway” it gives you the chance to double your cryptocurrency. In fact, you are referred to fraudulent platforms and transfer money to criminals. Your money is then lost!

What are the fake videos about?
Criminals pose as Elon Musk in the videos. They spoof YouTube channels from Musk's companies SpaceX or Tesla. In the videos you will then receive recommendations and tips for trading cryptocurrencies - allegedly from Musk himself. Very often these videos also contain conversations where Elon Musk and other well-known entrepreneurs talk about cryptocurrencies as investment opportunities.
Musk is reportedly offering the opportunity to send a certain amount to him. He then doubles the amount. This opportunity is advertised as a one-time “giveaway”. You are asked to act quickly. Because the great offer is only available for a limited time. The conditions can also be seen in the video:
If you send 0.1+ BTC, you will get 0.2+ BTC back.
If you send 0.5+ BTC, you will get 1+ BTC back.
If you send 1+ BTC, you will get 2+ BTC back.
If you send 5+ BTC, you will get + BTC back.
If you send + BTC, you will get 10+ BTC back.
If you send 10+ BTC, you will get 20+ BTC back.
According to the explanation, this doubling works not only with Bitcoins, but also with ETH.
Anyone who would like to take advantage of the opportunity will be asked to visit an external website, e.g. E.g. space-musk.org or deptesla.com. There you will find out the address to which Bitcoin or Ethereum should be transferred.
Attention: Some of the videos are real video excerpts or statements from Musk. But these were taken completely out of context. Very often the videos are manipulated or edited together with other statements and distorted.
How do I know these videos aren't real?
- The offer is too good to be true:
why would Elon Musk double your cryptocurrency? What advantages would that have for him? Exactly – none! - Verify YouTube account:
Take a close look at the account that published the video. What other videos are there? What information can you find? How long has the account been around? How many followers does the account have? There are usually no other videos or content on fake accounts. These are hacked accounts. - No comments possible:
Comments are usually disabled for fraudulent advertising videos. Sure – otherwise victims might warn others. - Verified account:
The fake YouTube accounts initially appear as if they were the official YouTube channels of Musk's companies SpaceX or Tesla. Search SpaceX or Tesla on YouTube and look for the check mark next to the account name. The checkmark means the account has been verified by YouTube. YouTube accounts from big companies like SpaceX are usually verified! In the image below you can see what a verified account should look like.

Screenshots of fake videos with Elon Musk
Below you can see some examples of how these fake videos with Elon Musk are structured. In the screenshots you can see a similar procedure:
- In a video conference, Elon Musk and other well-known entrepreneurs or investment personalities talk about investment opportunities and cryptocurrency.
- A message about a fraudulent website appears.
- The account that posted the video is not a verified account.
- The promises and investment conditions are completely unrealistic.
