Horror clowns, ecstasy in Halloween bags or horror voice messages on Twitter: are these scary messages real?
Today is Halloween! The time for fun scares, watching horror films or exploring the neighborhood in search of sweets. Time to look back at various scary stories that we have analyzed recently. Fake or cause for horror?
1.) Horror voice messages on Whatsapp?
Halloween is just around the corner and creepy WhatsApp chain letters are once again circulating on many children's smartphones. Most of the time, only harmless jokes are shared en masse on WhatsApp - but sometimes chain letters also contain death threats or other horror stories. We give tips on how parents can support their children with fears. More about it here:

2.) Ecstasy in Halloween bags?
This post has been circulating on social networks since 2015 and has been misused as clickbait by various sites, which particularly unsettles parents on Halloween. are said to thrown ecstasy pills, disguised as colorful glucose, into Halloween bags in order to poison children with an overdose.
If you only read the headline here and don't click on the link, you may not notice that this is no longer relevant. Because the link is dead and leads nowhere. But don't worry: it's a FAKE. Strictly speaking, an URBAN LEGEND .

3.) Horror clowns?!
The “killer clowns” were already making the rounds in 2016 and it seems as if this madness is starting all over again! Once again, a false report is being spread on the website 24aktuelles.com. Apparently a boy was killed by “killer clowns” in Neubrandenburg “yesterday”. As Nordkurier.de already reported , this is a malicious hoax ! We have explained here how you should react to reports about horror clowns:

4.) Lime juice makes your eyes green?
Many people want to dress up, especially on Halloween. A bullshit picture is currently circulating on Facebook and claims that putting lime juice in your eyes will turn your pupils green. This is nonsense! The fact that this can change the color of your eyes has also not been proven or even scientifically tested.

5.) “Halloween horror: Seriously injured boy (9) only receives candy instead of help everywhere”
We received many inquiries about an article claiming that a little boy with injuries to his face and hands did not receive help on Halloween. But don't worry, this is a satirical article from Postillon ! This is a joke and not true!

6.) Video about clown purge on Halloween is NONSENSE!
This video can be assigned to the “ scare bullshit ” category because the content presented is pure fantasy. At the same time, there was already a warning about October 25, 2016, when some kind of “cleansing” by clowns was supposed to take place. Yes, there may be cases where clowns have been spotted. However, there are more cases of fakes and false reports on the internet than REAL sightings and advertisements. More on this:

This is how you recognize fakes!
Hopefully that wasn't too scary, even for Halloween! If you want to recognize for yourself in the future whether a report is fake, take a look at our guidelines. ( Click here ) Otherwise, we wish you a nice Halloween!
