We at mimikama recently reported that children's social life takes place on TikTok these days, because in addition to dance and animal videos, there is also very dangerous content here: young people and children trivialize drugs, film themselves while intoxicated, give tips on the “best “ Drug use and also initiate deals while the music in the background glorifies drugs. Now the Federal Government Commissioner for Addiction and Drug Issues, Burkhard Blienert, is warning the platform: TikTok must fulfill its responsibility to protect underage users from content that is harmful to young people.

“Social media is irreplaceable, especially for younger people,” he wrote when asked by STRG_F. This makes effective protection against violence, stalking or illegal drugs all the more important. “We have that too, but of course only if everyone involved fulfills their responsibilities,” says Blienert.

STRG_F published research on August 23rd , according to which children and young people are already coming into contact with drug-glorifying content and dealers on the social media platform TikTok. After confronting the research, TikTok deleted some problematic videos. However, to date, significant hashtags in the drug scene such as #drff or #tanteemma with more than six million views have not been blocked, even after CTRL_F's tip.

Burkhard Blienert refers to the Network Enforcement Act, which obliges the operators of social platforms to immediately delete illegal content and report relevant incidents to the police. He also holds the investigating authorities responsible: “I also expect the police to take such incidents seriously.”

Dealers seem to feel very safe on the platform. So they openly exchange contact options on TikTok. Chemical drugs are also offered to minors here.

The Federal Criminal Police Office responded to the CTRL_F query:

“Trafficking in illegal substances takes place in all areas of the Internet, including platforms like TikTok.” In the BKA, a specialized working area is responsible for the phenomenon of drug trafficking on the Internet. “If criminal content becomes known, this content will, among other things, be secured and the necessary steps will be taken to identify those involved and to avoid loss of evidence.”
