The alleged attachment from the Federal Criminal Police Office, a PDF document, supposedly contains further information. But be careful! This is a sneaky attempt to trap gullible citizens.

As soon as you respond to such an email, you confirm to the criminals that your email address is active. The fraud can then escalate and the perpetrators can demand large amounts of money, often with the threat that alleged evidence will become public.
We have been warning about such fake summonses from the Federal Criminal Police Office for a long time
Here are just a few of our articles:
- Summons from the Berlin police, Europol and Interpol
- Warning about Europol emails: Beware, fake!
- Austrian Police – Be careful, fake email!
- Warning about emails from the Federal Police: Beware, fake!
Keep in mind that no law enforcement agency would ever make such allegations via email without first receiving an official letter or in-person contact. Official citations or charges will not be sent via email.
The best way to protect yourself from such scams is to delete such emails without opening them and never respond to them. If you are unsure whether an email is legitimate, contact the local police or the Federal Criminal Police Office itself.
Make sure you and your loved ones are aware of such scams and know how to recognize them. Stay safe and be skeptical of emails that contain shocking accusations.
How you can recognize the Federal Criminal Police Office forgery
- Email addresses: Pay attention to the sender's email address. For example, the police do not use Google or GMail addresses!
- Missing salutation: If there is no salutation and you are only addressed with a “Hello” or “Dear Madam, Dear Sir”, you can assume that the letter was sent en masse to countless people.
- No specific description of the crime: You are accused of a crime. But what exactly it is is not explained - i.e. when, what, where was consumed or shared.
- Time pressure and numerous threats: Writing creates pressure to respond immediately. If you don't respond within 48 or 72 hours, a warrant will allegedly be issued for your arrest. “Your case” will also be passed on to the media and you will be publicly exposed.
- Punishment without a hearing: You will be punished without a hearing or personal testimony. This is not an official procedure!
