You might be shocked when you read the list of crimes: child pornography, cyber pornography, child crime.
The letter from the Federal Police
The letterhead features the logo of the Federal Police Germany, below which the responsible department is named: “Central office for combating crime in connection with information and communication technologies”.
Below the subject: “Invitation of Justice”.

“We, the undersigned, the Central Office for Combating Crime Related to Information and Communication Technologies, which centralizes online reports.
This text is signed with “Dr. Barbara Slowik, head of the youth protection brigade and the gendarmerie.”
We will contact you after a computer seizure or cyber infiltration.
They are the subject of several court cases for possession of images of child pornography - cyber pornography - child crime.
Her IP address was the target of a silent internet investigation by the Interior Ministry's Censorship Compliance Unit.
We have several points recorded that provide evidence of your violations.
You are asked to provide your reasons for the examination and verification to assess the sanctions by email to: burokontakt.bs@gmail.com.
Within a strict period of 72 hours, in the event of the slightest negligence on your part, we must submit our report to the deputy public prosecutor's office of the Berlin Regional Court and the cybercrime specialist lawyer to justify an arrest warrant at the gendarmerie, closest to your place of residence, so that your arrest appears and you are listed as a sex offender become.
Now you’ve been warned.”
The Federal Police uses a GMail address?
Probably not. All of the wording in the letter is... well, let's just say: unusual.
- The place and date are introduced by “Happened in…” – phrases that are not necessarily familiar.
- “Invitation of Justice” – Yippee, justice invites?
- “Now you have been warned.” – No, no authority in Germany formulates any statements like that.
- “We, the signatories,…” – and ultimately ONE person signs?
Yes, official German is a bit trickier than our everyday language. But some translation tool seems to have gone a little wrong here. It should be clear at first glance, but at the latest when reading the letter, that this cannot come from an official authority.
Such letters have been sent for a long time. We reported HERE , HERE , HERE and HERE . The senders and email addresses listed vary, but always have to do with the police, Interpol or Europol.
Should I reply to this email?
No, absolutely not. This fake email does not come from the federal police, but from criminals. Once you respond, you confirm to the criminals that your email address exists. As a result, you can expect to be asked for a large amount of money.
How do I know it's a scam?
- Email addresses: Look closely at the sender's email address. Here you should reply to a gmail address. These are not official email addresses of the Federal Police.
- Missing salutation: If there is no salutation and you are only addressed with a “Hello” or “Dear Madam, Dear Sir”, you can assume that the letter was sent en masse to countless people.
- No specific description of the crime: You are accused of a crime. But what exactly it is is not explained - i.e. when, what, where was consumed or shared.
- Time pressure and numerous threats: Writing creates pressure to respond immediately. If you don't respond within 72 hours, a warrant will allegedly be issued for your arrest.
- Punishment without a hearing: You will be punished without a hearing or personal testimony. This is not an official procedure!
- Incomplete sentences, translation errors: Pay attention to the spelling. There are some strange terminology here and some of the grammar is also incorrect.
No official authority sends such documents!
There are already numerous warnings about this scam:
Federal Police , Federal Criminal Police Office (DE) , Federal Criminal Police Office (AT) , Watchlist Internet
