Two pictures are currently doing the rounds on Facebook that supposedly show pigs suffering from cancer!
In one of the status posts, a butcher allegedly comments that if cancer is discovered in a piece of meat, it is simply cut out and the meat is then sold.
What we have here is a picture of a piece of meat with an admittedly rather unsavory-looking discoloration - cancer?

Didier Delzescaux, director of Inaporc (Association of Pig Industry Professionals) says that it is an abscess and not cancer - cancers look different. ( source )
It should be noted at this point that the sale of meat with abscesses is also prohibited and is not, as the report might suggest if applied appropriately, part of the norm. However, if traces of cancer are detected in a slaughtered animal, the carcass is immediately sent for rendering and is disposed of there.

The strict European controls prevent the situation specified in the article from occurring or should at least make entry much more difficult.
In addition, cancer is not contagious, the claim that you can get cancer from consuming it is simply wrong. Cancer cells would not survive the aggressive digestive process in the human body.
Cancer occurs when cells in our body begin to multiply uncontrollably due to a DNA mutation. Our immune system has problems with this because they are still the body's own cells. However, foreign cancer cells would be immediately detected and combated by the immune system.
