Is the corona crisis just an act? Are the media lying when they say that Flixbus, for example, stopped long-distance transport to stop the virus?

One video is about Flixbus, which, according to media reports, has completely stopped long-distance travel ( compare ). This happened on instructions from the German federal government. Generally, Flixbus is quoted as saying:

On March 16, 2020, the German federal government, together with the heads of government of the federal states, agreed on guidelines for further restricting social contacts in public areas in Germany. These guidelines also apply to bus travel. Flixbus is of course following the instructions of the federal government and will therefore suspend all national and cross-border connections to and from Germany from midnight on March 17, 2020 until further notice.

And now there is this video on social media. The video comes from a man who wants to show that the media is lying and that Flixbus buses continue to run normally. He particularly highlights ZDF's reporting ( this one ).

To do this, the man goes to a Flixbus terminal. There he walks towards a bus that is going to Warsaw. He speaks to the bus driver, who answers in broken German.

Shortly afterwards, the man is sent off, which of course is included as a narrative in this video. Furthermore, the video also goes further and reports on propaganda-driven media reports.

At this point, however, we are concentrating on the basis of the video: Does this Flixbus go to Poland? And if so, why is the bus running?

Fact check Flixbus

The bus actually goes to Poland. This bus is not a secret operation or a covert trip, but rather a trip that was officially communicated. Flixbus itself writes about this ( compare ):

“The travel restrictions imposed by the Polish government currently stipulate that Polish citizens are allowed to cross the border to return to Poland.
Therefore, FlixBus currently offers the following limited connections: Berlin-Stettin, Berlin-Warsaw and Berlin-Medyka.”

This is neither a pleasure trip nor a city trip. The Ärzteblatt also describes in a publication dated March 26, 2020 that there is definitely cross-border travel.

It tells you that Eastern European carers who care for people in need of care in Germany in their homes are still allowed to enter Germany. The Ärzteblatt also writes that there are no major problems for these forces at the border because, according to a press release from the Promedica Group, a corresponding solution has been approved by the Federal Ministry of Health, the Foreign Office and the providers of care services in Germany:

“The nursing staff from Eastern Europe that we employ have so far had no problems crossing the border,” said the managing director of the Promedica Group, Peter Blassnigg, to the German Medical Journal (DÄ).
