Four men, one banner – “We demand more money” – the photo is still circulating in Facebook groups and is being misused.
We received inquiries about a photo that is currently on Facebook. According to the group, these are “brazen luxury asylum seekers”:
Image in plain text:
And we demand the immediate deportation of these brazen luxury asylum seekers!
So what do we really see in this photo?
You can see four people. In his hand a banner with the words “We demand more money”.
Images found on the Internet always carry the risk of being taken out of context and given a new story. This happens more often than you think, including in this case - and boom, you're on the receiving end of a false report :
This took place in October 2015:
In this article you can read:
OUTRAGEOUS!! Flensburg refugees demand more money!
The first living containers aren't even finished yet, but the audacity can no longer be surpassed.
They are standing at the Exe.
In branded clothes, equipped with the latest smartphones! And they demand more money. And their look says it all: they are serious and ready for escalationAll nonsense! Our team has been observing posts like this – and much worse ones – on social media for weeks.
Countless right-wing websites make claims that are simply lies.
Why? To scare you.
But the truth is that there are no refugees in the photo. With this project we are simply demonstrating how easy it is for right-wing influencers to influence us online - with lies.
I would like to introduce:Bottom left in the picture: I've known Elvis since I was a little boy.
Works at Orion. Cool guy.
His father is the best boxer Flensburg has ever had! Top left: Salman, if you haven't ordered a burrito from him (Nordermarkt), you're missing out.
He's also a really good DJ!Bottom right: Shakir, the operator of the club of the same name.
He was the biggest challenge today. Because he just can't look evil. Not even for the photo. It probably took twenty tries. He's just too nice.
And me, the masked one: Mark, operator of Flensbook and Beefing.de. An inconsequential guy who isn't in the mood for right-wing nonsense.
We have all worked and lived here for a long time. We are not refugees.
Most people in Flensburg know some of us anyway, if not all of us.
Please use Google in the future without supporting every right-wing nonsense on Facebook with “Like” or “Share” buttons.
Because then statements like, “I have nothing against foreigners, but…” or “I’m not right-wing, just a patriot” are simply no longer useful.
Then you get involved.
And anyone who supports false statements from the right on social networks will get brown spots on their white vest. I don't care where they come from or what skin color my friends in the picture have.
We are the ones who are not interested in the brown crap that is currently happening in Germany. And if you see it that way too, please share this post!
So that others also realize that you shouldn't believe everything on the internet! Many thanks to Fahim, from the light factory, for the photos!
And greetings to the cops, who called three emergency vehicles.
By the way, they all knew us tooThank you,
Mark Jurgensen
