The status contribution:

The fraudsters spread their fake status post on Facebook under the name “FRESSNAPF fans”. The post promises a special gift bag to anyone who leaves a “congratulations” comment on their page. Additionally, it is claimed that €250 in cash was accidentally placed in 200 out of 300 bags. The supposed chance of winning something attracts the attention of numerous users.

The dangerous trap

As soon as a user likes the status post, they receive a supposedly personal message from the supposed FRESSNAPF team. This message contains a link to a competition form. But caution is advised! There is a high probability that there is no real profit. Instead, there is a risk that private and personal data will be misused.

The misuse of personal data

The fraudsters behind the fake FRESSNAPF profile are after sensitive data. As soon as a user fills out the supposed competition form, his or her personal data will be requested. These can range from name and address to telephone number and email address. This information can then be misused for fraudulent purposes such as unsolicited advertising calls or sending spam emails.

How do you protect yourself from such fraud attempts?

To protect yourself from such scams, it is important to take a few precautions:

  • Check the authenticity of the Facebook profile: Check carefully whether it is the official profile of the company by looking for the verification note or other indicators.
  • Don't trust unusually large winnings: If a competition sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't real. Reputable companies organize competitions with realistic prizes.
  • Be careful when disclosing personal information: Never provide sensitive information such as passwords, social security numbers, or credit card information in unfamiliar forms or on suspicious websites.
  • Report suspicious posts: If you see a suspicious post or fake profile, report it to Facebook immediately so that appropriate action can be taken.

Conclusion
It is unfortunate that fraudsters exploit the trust and popularity of companies like FRESSNAPF to defraud unsuspecting users. Always be vigilant and do not give out your personal information carelessly. Learn about current fraud methods and help detect and report fraudulent activity to protect other users.
