The consumer advice center warns against transfers abroad that are requested via fraudulent debt collection letters.

Fraudulent debt collection letters: Many unsettled people in Brandenburg are currently contacting the consumer advice center who have received mail from the supposed debt collection company PORTEX INKASSO AG. The consumer advice center advises: “Don’t pay!”

The letters, which are available to the Brandenburg Consumer Center (VZB), lead the recipient to believe that they have concluded a contract to participate in a competition called “TOP100 competitions / EUROJACKPOT-49”.

In addition to the main claim, the brazen sender claims reminder costs and pre-judicial collection costs. The sum requested from the consumer is around 280 euros and should be transferred to a French account. This can be recognized by the IBAN, which begins with the abbreviation “FR”.

“If you have received such a letter, do not pay under any circumstances,”

says lawyer Stefanie Kahnert. The cover letter also includes a pre-written notice of termination and a transfer slip.

“Do not under any circumstances send these documents filled out and signed to the sender. Instead, it’s better to report it to the police,”

continued the consumer expert.

Letters with virtually the same content were already in circulation in December 2019; at that time, the rip-offs were called EXPRO Inkasso AG and PLUS INKASSO AG. The consumer advice center has put together a blacklist of known dubious IBANs .
