For a few weeks now, a user named thinfrog has been documenting his plans on TikTok : He wants to own a frog army. For this purpose, he took around 1.4 million frog spawn from water bodies that he said were drying out and placed them in his pond so that they could survive. But his “Frog Army” videos raise doubts.
How it all began
It started with a TikTok video that the user thinfrog posted on TikTok on February 26th:
@thinfrog frog army let's go 🐸😈
♬ Love You So – The King Khan & BBQ Show
The user, who only ever uses a computer-generated voice for his videos, collected a handful of frogspawn to take home and place in his own garden pond. He claims that he would “save” the eggs from the almost dry waters, but he is already making a mistake because frogs intentionally lay their eggs in shallow waters because they are heated up more.
Two months later…
…thinfrog published another video:
@thinfrog 1.4M FROGS!!!😳 can't wait how this goes out😈🐸wait till the end!
♬ Love You So – The King Khan & BBQ Show
The 1.4 million tadpoles have now hatched and are swimming around in his pond, which is far too small. the TikTok user froggiebiologist doesn't find this as funny as most viewers of the videos: In several videos, he points out the irresponsibility of the action, for example it's not even clear whether the frogs are invasive. With so many frogs in a small space, frog cannibalism and the spread of disease would inevitably occur.
However, thinfrog continued to ignore all warnings from froggiebiologist and other users that his "Frog Army" should continue to thrive, it doesn't matter if you are called an eco-terrorist on an ego trip who only believes he has "saved" the frogs , or?
The experiment was a success...
After 95 days, thinfrog published another video on June 6th that apparently shows his success: millions of little frogs in his garden, another half a million still in the pond:
@thinfrog no more going in the garden this year and the neighbors because the gardens took over by my giant frog army😈😂
♬ RAVE – Dxrk ダーク
The millions of frogs would now also be hopping around in the gardens of his neighbors, who are not particularly enthusiastic about it. known to a wide audience on June 9th through “The Sun” (see HERE The story could end here... if the videos hadn't seemed familiar to some users!
...or maybe not?
TikTok user greenerbee noted that the video of the frogs in the garden looked vaguely familiar to her - because it's already four years old!
@greenerbee The frog army is fake 😤 #frogtok #frogarmy #frogarmyconspiracy #frogarmyfake ♬ original sound – Greener
In the TikTok video she refers to the video on YouTube (see HERE ), and indeed: the alleged recordings by thinfrog come from the four-year-old YouTube video. The user remembered this because she was talking about frogs at school and used this exact video.
But this isn't the only inconsistency: Many users noticed that the quality of the last video changes halfway through, that the frogs are different sizes and that the water always looks different in several shots.
And then some users also found another video from 2013... excerpts from which can also be seen in thinfrog's video.
Conclusion
It's possible the TikTok user really did intend to grow a "frog army," but it looks like the experiment went awry halfway through (which wouldn't be surprising with 1.4 million tadpoles in a tiny garden pond) and he ended up using clippings from old ones instead He used videos to keep his growing following entertained.
We strongly assume that the user will either remain silent about it or admit to the hoax, which has been going on for over three months.

You may be familiar with this: you're playing one of your old favorite games on an emulator, but somehow you remember the graphics much better.
False memory? No, because the graphics actually looked better... and there's a reason for that! – Don't be a misrememberer: your old games actually used to look better than they do now!
