Several weeks ago a video appeared that was supposedly taken “yesterday in Munich”. This video shows people rioting through the streets.

In their anger they destroy various objects. As we found out in our fact check, this video was not recorded in Munich, but in Florence. It doesn't come from November 2019 either, but the scenes took place in March 2018.

At this point we refer to our fact check from November 3, 2019 entitled “ Yesterday evening in Munich ”. This article adequately explains the origin of the video and the previous occasion.

This video received less attention for several weeks, but in the last few hours this video has appeared more frequently again and is being discussed more frequently again. One can speculate about the reason, but it could well be related to the knife attack on a police officer in Munich.

On the morning of December 9th, 2019, a 30-year-old police officer was attacked and injured with a knife during a check at Munich Central Station by a man who was not yet involved ( compare ). So much for now.

This attack has basically nothing to do with the video, but from observations on social media regarding user postings about terrorist attacks or attacks, we have repeatedly noticed that other postings that supposedly happened in the same place often appear in such a context . And due to the relative time of “yesterday”, the video and the attack at the train station seem quite congruent at the current time (December 10, 2019).

Angry comments

What continues to happen: This video is often shared or commented on without reflection because many people assume it comes from Munich. Since the information regarding the age and origin of the video is not conveyed correctly, misleading comments arise that contain great anger.

Not Munich, but it often goes unnoticed
Not Munich, but it often goes unnoticed

Not Munich, not 2019!

The video entitled “Yesterday evening in Munich” is neither connected to the knife attack at the train station nor was it even recorded in the Bavarian capital.

What can be seen in the video can of course be viewed critically and commented on, but the facts should not be falsified.
