The claim

Leonore Gewessler is said to have said: “Does the neighbor heat the apartment to over 19 degrees? Please inform me". This statement can be seen on a poster as well as a telephone number to call the neighbors.

Our conclusion

The poster is a fake . The ministry does not have such a poster and there is no order in this direction!

On social media such as Facebook and Twitter, users have been sharing a supposed poster from the Austrian “ Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology ” for a few days now. Leonore Gewessler is on the poster with the inscription “Does the neighbor heat the apartment to over 19 degrees? Please inform me” , which supposedly calls for neighbors to be reported by calling +43(0)171162-657170.

It is about this poster or these or similar posts

. The number given belongs to the BMK building on Radetzkystrasse in 1030 Vienna.

We called this phone number today, September 22nd, 2022, and you initially end up at the “Infopoint” and are then connected to the service office. A spokesman said that he was not aware of this poster and that there was no such “arrangement”.

A few days ago there was a fake poster that allegedly asked people in Switzerland to report their neighbors. We HERE .

Energy Minister Gewessler Leonore wanted a maximum temperature of 19 degrees in some official buildings , such as municipal offices .

However, these 19 degrees do not apply to hospitals or schools or to private rooms. However, this is a recommendation, not a requirement!

Conclusion:

The above poster is a fake. The photo comes from Leonore Gewessler's biography, which can be found on the ministry's website. The telephone number exists, but it is not a “hotline for reporting neighbors”. If you call, you will be taken to the information platform of the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology
