What happens when I click on the link?

If you click on the link, you will be taken to a fake GMX login page. Data you enter there goes directly to the criminals. You will most likely lose access to your account.

You can tell that the site is not real by looking at the internet address. It seems plausible because it contains “gmx”, but the real internet address is “www.gmx.at” and not “app.gmxservice.com[…]”!

If you do not recognize the scam, you will be asked for additional personal information such as name, address, phone number, etc.

We assume that criminals will use this for further fraud. Telephone numbers in particular are very valuable. You are likely to fraudulent messages or calls .

Finally you will be asked to enter credit card details. Supposedly to confirm your address.
