Last year, Google promised users the ability to delete private information from its searches. Almost a year later, the internet giant has made good on its promise. And he even goes one step further.

Previously, users had to laboriously collect and delete their personal data. Now? One search is enough! Google keeps an eye on your data and warns you if it appears again online.

What you need to know about notifications

So when your phone number, address or email appears online, you will now receive a push notification directly to your Android or iOS device.

In addition, Google relies on SafeSearch results that are activated worldwide. This means that only safe images appear in Google search results.

Prevention instead of aftercare: Proactive protection against doxing

Another highlight of these innovations is the commitment to the fight against doxing. Photos of sensitive information - be it an ID card, bank details or a signature - will no longer appear in Google searches.

SafeSearch goes even one step further. Explicit images are now hidden and blurred. Before such content is displayed, users receive a warning.

What if your images show up somewhere else?

Here's the kicker: If you post pictures of yourself online, later delete them and then find them on other websites, Google offers you a solution. You can request the deletion of these images.

And how quickly does the Internet giant react here? After just 72 hours you will receive a reply in your registered Gmail inbox - free of charge!

A global rollout with local challenges

While users in the USA can already look forward to the new security functions, we in Europe still have to be patient. Currently the notifications are only available in the US.

But don't worry, Google has already announced that it wants to roll out this feature worldwide. The hook? It's not just about technology, it's also about the law. The function means scanning and processing personal data. This means that the company must strictly comply with the respective data protection regulations in order to function in different countries. This could slow down the process in some regions. This is particularly true in Europe, where data protection is very important. So it remains exciting to see when and how Google introduces this service in this country.

Conclusion: Major security upgrade

The digital world can sometimes feel like the Wild West. It is full of risks and unexpected dangers. However, Google's latest protections make surfing the Internet safer. This isn't just an achievement for Google. It is an important step for all internet users. Security on the Internet should not be a luxury, but a basic right for everyone. This innovation brings us closer to this goal.
