A photo shows Greta Thunberg eating on a train. Children can be seen outside the train - but this version is a fake.

A photo of climate activist Greta Thunberg is currently circulating. It shows her eating food in one go. Children sit outside the window and look in. This is the photo:

The fact check

If the photo is posted on Facebook, the social media platform places a gray filter with the reference “misinformation” over it.

The photo has already been debunked by Aos Fatos : it is actually two photos. The landscape that the original photo actually shows has been replaced with another photo.

On January 22, 2019, Greta Thunberg posted this photo on her Twitter channel:

However, the manipulated image can already be found in the comments. The photo of the children was taken in the Central African Republic in 2007 by Stephanie Hancock and used Reuters article

Conclusion:

The photo was manipulated and has been circulating online for over a year. In the original, the window next to Greta does not show children, but a landscape. In addition, the photo of the children was taken in 2007, whereas Greta Thunberg's train journey only took place in 2019.

As long as Greta Thunberg has not traveled through time ( yes, that has already been discussed! ), we can assume that it is a fake that was created by people to make her appear unbelievable.
