Barbecue ban: Everyone is allowed to light the barbecue in summer. Except the Germans, because the Greens forbid them. NOT!

The summary of the barbecue ban for Germans:

The Greens are not calling for a ban on barbecues for Germans. The shared sharepic is a screenshot of a kind of satire.

You can read it clearly on a screenshot: Apparently the barbecue season is about to end for the Germans because the Greens want to ban barbecues for Germans. Because of the climate. And the polar ice caps.

The barbecue ban really only applies to Germans, because Turks without a German passport, for example, can continue to happily keep the coals glowing. Because of the culture. Polar caps don't matter.

Seriously, what some people are upset about, but what really stands out here is that this text, which can be seen in the screenshot, is complete nonsense. Unless you want to understand it like this:

Barbecue ban for Germans: Fake!
Barbecue ban for Germans: Fake!

There is no demand for a barbecue ban for Germans!

The screenshot comes from a website called Shortnews.de. This website no longer exists, so the article itself can no longer be accessed.

However, there is an archived version of this article from August 4, 2017 ( see here ). There are already several exciting comments under the article.

Hofreiter asked directly

In this context, we have already asked Anton Hofreiter whether the Greens should ban barbecues for Germans. The answer is actually unnecessary, but we'll show it here.

The calls for a ban on barbecues are false and false. Certain people are trying to create sentiment against us with lies. It is simply unspeakable how fake news is spread around the world

Barbecue ban and the anti-German ban narrative

In this fake we are dealing with a typical narrative pattern that is intended to assume that the members of the Green Party have anti-German sentiments. This is closely linked to the narrative of a “ban party”, which is contrary to libertarian views.

This example clearly shows how useful narratives can be when they are used as a vehicle for false reports. The story just has to seem plausible, then it's quite easy to put a fake in it that ends up appearing believable.

The Greens in particular are severely affected by these narrative structures and the corresponding false reports ( compare ).
