Hate comments on Facebook: Time and again, users let their anger out online. But freedom of expression has its limits and the Internet is not a legal vacuum.
Hate comments: In the digital age of Facebook and Co, netiquette is noticeably suffering. Because of the anonymity provided by pseudonyms or groups, some commentators feel encouraged to let their anger out. But the Internet is not a legal vacuum where you can do anything.
Current case
This case from the Soest police shows this again. In a press release they report the following:
On Tuesday morning, police officers carried out speed checks on Stirper Street. A Facebook user took a photo of the police officers and posted the picture in a Lippstadt Facebook group.

There was a lively discussion under the picture in which a 38-year-old man from Erwitte insulted the police in general.
“You should give them a slap in the face, they should focus on more important things instead of taking money out of people’s pockets.”
And later:
“Even better, wankers, they don’t know where they can scam people out of money.”
The officials secured the gentleman's now-deleted comments via screenshot in order to add them as an attachment to the corresponding ad.
Conclusion:
On the Internet and social media, as in real life:
Not everything you like is allowed.
Freedom of expression has its limits. It ends, for example, when others are insulted, threatened or denigrated, or when violence and attacks are called for.
This case also shows that: the Internet is not a legal vacuum.
