On Thursday afternoon (April 14th) around 4:40 p.m., a minor on Mülheimer Straße fell victim to fraud by a fake police officer.
The 14-year-old victim was with a 12-year-old friend in a wooded area of a park behind the water tower there. approached by an unknown man with the words “Hello, police here!” He stated that it was forbidden to be in the area and asked both to show IDs and empty their pockets.
The 14-year-old handed the “police officer” almost 20 euros in cash. With the statement that he would call in a uniformed colleague, he left the forest in the direction of the Max Planck Ring.
A short-range search that was initiated was negative.
Description of the person:
- male (German appearance),
- approx. 25 years,
- approx. 180cm,
- brown hair and
- light stubble.
- He was wearing a black and white checked shirt and jeans.
The next day (Friday, April 15th), a 27-year-old was approached by an unknown man in Altenberg Park around 1:30 p.m. He introduced himself to him as a detective and wanted to check the man's bag. The victim asked for an ID card, which resulted in the “officer” approaching aggressively. Out of fear, the 27-year-old dropped his bag to the ground, from which the suspect took cash and walked away towards the main train station.
The accused can be described as follows: male (German appearance), approx. 30 years old, slim figure, approx. 175 to 180cm tall, light, short hair, black and white checked shirt (long sleeve) and dark jeans.
