Logistics problems
Toys, bicycle spare parts, electronic items – not available. Semiconductors, aluminum, paper – in short supply.
While at the beginning of the corona pandemic it was assumed that delivery problems and material bottlenecks in the German economy would resolve themselves within a few months, the situation has now even worsened.
Persistently high prices
According to a current survey by the Munich Ifo Institute, more than three quarters of German companies are now affected by delivery problems.
“The situation is very extraordinary if you look at it in the historical context. We hadn’t seen numbers like that until the 1980s.”
Responsible study leaders Dr. Klaus Wohlrabe from the ifo Institute
Disrupted supply chains and traffic jams in ports are increasingly causing production standstills in German companies. That could cost growth and prosperity. Consumers will probably have to prepare not only for gaps on the shelves in the Christmas business, but also for higher prices.
