Crizpy: Let's put social media where it's most fun.
Especially in winter, many households struggle with mold due to the temperature differences inside and outside.
This can have several causes: Poorly insulated and therefore cold external walls as well as cold window recesses or high humidity. Furniture that is too close to the outside walls can also promote mold growth. One of the most common reasons is poorly ventilated rooms. It should therefore be ventilated several times a day for 10 minutes. The more freely the air can flow through the apartment, the better. Ideally, windows in opposite rooms should be opened wide at the same time. This is especially true in winter, as excessive humidity condenses on the outside walls.
The humidity in all rooms should be reduced to values between 40 and 60 percent. This can be measured using a hygrometer.
In principle, if mold occurs, the property manager or landlord must be informed. The German Tenants' Association warns: "Tenants who do not report defects or damage in the apartment may be liable for damages if the damage becomes even greater as a result of their inaction."
