One picture shows a figure in the clouds, and the wildest theories are circulating about it. However, it is not proven what it actually is.
The human figure in the clouds – the most important thing to start with:
- A photo shows a figure in the clouds.
- There are the wildest theories that are supposed to explain what can be seen in the material.
- However, it is unclear what it actually is.
We received inquiries about the following photo, which at first glance shows a human silhouette in the clouds:
The fact check
Yes, the topic of creating clouds actually sounds very familiar to us! ( we reported ) In 2018, colleague Rüdiger what this could be about:
To be clear, the existing evidence cannot clearly say what we are really seeing here. Since the factual basis is simply missing and the quality of the picture is not very good, in this case one can only use a heuristic principle from scholasticism, which is used in the philosophy of science and scientific methodology. This principle is called Occam's Razor .
Occam's razor
Razor? Yes. But of course only metaphorically. The basic point is that the simplest explanation for a phenomenon is usually the correct one. The more conditions that have to be met for an explanation to be valid, the less likely the explanation is, or “Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem” – “Entities must not be multiplied beyond what is necessary.”

Named after William of Ockham, a philosopher and writer who lived in the 13th and 14th centuries, this principle describes an approach to a question in which the illogical and improbable answers are removed as if with a razor - what is then left is probably the correct explanation.
An example
If you cook an egg for breakfast and it ends up being too hard, the explanation could be that a rift in the space-time continuum caused time for the egg to pass faster, which then results in This has been cooked for far too long, so it is hard.
However, you could also simply claim that you forgot to look at the clock and that's why the egg got so hard.
Both would explain the phenomenon. However, for the first variant with the continuum, a number of requirements would have to be met in order for the hypothesis to be confirmed. For example, the mere fact that there really is such a thing as a rift in the space-time continuum and that this actually had an influence on the breakfast egg.

Applied to the picture, this would mean that the apparition is either a sign from God...or just a strangely shaped cloud.
“But you can see a figure…”
Yes, of course. And if you know what it could possibly be according to certain theories, you will see exactly what you want to see. Our brain is to blame for this: it strives to discover familiar patterns in all forms. In this case, God or whoever. This phenomenon is called pareidolia and is well known: a face was “clearly” recognized in the first images of the surface of Mars taken by the Viking 1 probe on July 25, 1976.
However, upon closer inspection we now know that this face was just an optical illusion:
You can clearly see the mountain, which looked like a face through a play of light and shadow.

The facts
We know that there are different weather phenomena that can look like this. So we can assume that we are not wrong with this simple and plausible “weather phenomenon solution”.
And now?
Theoretically, everyone could now get a complete picture, evaluate this phenomenon and take into account whether it is more likely that it is God or Allah himself who is enthroned there on a cloud, or whether it is just a cloud shape that can be imagined reminiscent of a person.
In any case, the “natural” explanation is a little more plausible.
