You can still see them, the dog owners, who take their dogs jogging with them or let them run alongside their bikes, even in summer temperatures. Yes, dogs have a natural urge to move. But when it's hot, you can take it easy, our furry friends will thank us.
Dogs also like to chill out
Yes, even dogs are not allowed to do anything. Especially when it's hot, you should treat them to it if they just want to lie around lazily in the shade or in a cool place and avoid exertion.
“The floor is lava!”
What is also too often forgotten is the heat of the ground. Asphalt in particular can be dangerously hot for dogs' paws.
Even on sunny days, at a pleasant 25 degrees for us, the asphalt reaches extremely high temperatures. On hot days with around 35 degrees outside temperature even up to 65 degrees. ( HERE )
Adapt your daily routine to the temperatures
On hot days, walks should be taken early in the morning or later in the evening. Running in the meadow and/or in the shade is much more pleasant for our animal companions than on heated asphalt.
Strenuous and sporting activities should sometimes be avoided and postponed until cooler days. – For the sake of your dog’s health and well-being.
