I quickly took a picture of a woman and popped an IKEA logo into the picture.
And the teaser image for a competition lure that tempts with an IKEA voucher is ready. But we have to emphasize in advance: IKEA has nothing to do with the status post shown or the competition that is ultimately linked.
What's more: If you take a closer look at this teaser, you can immediately see some irregularities. The receipts that the lady is holding in her hand have nothing to do with IKEA and the teaser text that appears under the picture is a passage from a Spiegel article from November 2017.

This status message wants to lead us to a competition. Well, after one click we first land on a pseudo competition, which turns out to be a short question and answer session. However, the answers to the four questions that arise are irrelevant for further proceedings. It doesn't matter which answers you choose. A winning confirmation always appears at the end. This promise of profit forms the bridge to the actual goal.
From a technical point of view, however, this bridge is very important for the creator of this question round: it is not the questions themselves, but the information “Request now” that appears at the end that you should click on.
With this click you will be redirected to another website and with this redirection you will receive a small package, namely an affiliate code, with the help of which an affiliate operator can recognize which website you were redirected from or who brought you here .
Finally
A website will now open where you can win a €500 IKEA gift card. This website is an affiliate competition. At this point you can already tell that the creator of the previous bait spoke of only €250 and it is therefore clear that two different parties are at work here.
If you take part in this competition, whoever includes the link on their website will receive a commission. This is also the reason why such (previous) fake competitions are constructed: The aim is to display advertising or to incorporate advertising links in a credible and effective way. The author of the fake competitions simply does not care whether their own content is correct.
By the way, the affiliate competition built into the end is not illegal. However, it has nothing to do with the previous bait. Here you can also see the consequences of participation:
Yes, I have read and agree to receive offers via email, telephone, SMS and/or postal mail (click here for communication preferences) about the products or services of all sponsors listed here.
The organizer of this competition also dissociates itself from any connection to Facebook or IKEA.
The brand/company described is neither the organizer nor sponsor of this campaign and has no business relationship with the organizer of the competition.
The competition is not connected to Facebook and is in no way sponsored, supported or organized by Facebook. Images are similar and are for illustration purposes only. A cash payment is excluded.
