After companies in the region and nationwide are currently receiving payment requests for COVID-19 rapid antigen tests that have allegedly been ordered, the police are warning about this scam.
The criminals usually send the invoices in the name of fictitious companies and ask the recipients to pay them quickly. The fraudsters probably deliberately keep the requested amount low in order to prevent the company from carrying out a closer inspection of the invoice. The threat of follow-up costs such as reminder fees creates additional pressure in further letters.
The police are investigating suspected commercial fraud and strongly advise:
Don't let yourself be put under pressure. Take the necessary time and check carefully whether you have ordered the listed goods or not. If you have any doubts about the accuracy of an invoice, contact the sender personally and contact the police if you suspect that you have been the victim of fraud.
