Expensive pleasure with internet acquaintance! A contact via Instagram. A video chat develops.
Skillfully and obviously prepared specifically, the unknown chat partner gets a 38-year-old to masturbate in front of the web cam.
He receives the bill for this that same evening: the sexual acts recorded in the chat would be forwarded to friends, family and employers via YouTube. Unless he pays 1,500 euros. But that's not enough. The man will be asked to make further payments in the following days. He complies with these demands and transfers a total of 5,000 euros to a foreign account. The blackmail never ended. A further 10,000 euros were demanded. Now the injured party turns to the police.
Be careful when chatting with strangers
The Würzburg police took over the investigation into the 38-year-old's case. She urges you to be particularly careful when exchanging intimate photos or sexual acts in front of web cams. You never know who you might be dealing with.

If you become a victim of blackmail, you should not react to it, but rather report it to the police immediately.
Police warn against sexting and sextortion
“Sexting” – sex + texting – refers to the sending of messages with clearly sexual content, especially via various messenger services.
Fraudsters like to use this as a scam to obtain intimate photos or videos and blackmail victims. “Sextortion” – sex + extortion (blackmail) – describes exactly what happened in the 38-year-old’s case. Victims are tricked into performing sexual acts on themselves and then blackmailed with video recordings.
