Videos should get more attention on Instagram.
“Bigger” here also refers to the display in the app. Instagram boss Adam Mosseri reported on the current test runs on Instagram on Twitter.
“Test feed changes
Adam Mosseri on Twitter
We are testing a new, immersive viewing experience in the main home feed.
When you’re in the test, check it out and let me know what you think.”
According to Mosseri, videos should become a more important part.
Like photos, they should take up a larger part of the screen. During the test run, he also asked users to give feedback because, as Mosseri says in his video message, the platform operators want to learn as much as possible in the next few weeks.
According to Techcrunch , Meta, the company behind Instagram, noted in a conference call last week that Reels accounts for more than 20% of the time users spend on the platform. On Facebook, videos of all kinds take up 50% of user time.
Building home feed

In the test of the full-screen home feed, the navigation bar is at the bottom to access search, reels, shopping and your own profile.
The top bar contains options for switching between accounts, viewing notifications, creating posts and messaging.
In the test screenshot of the new view, you can't see where you can access stories, but it was confirmed to Techcrunch that they will still remain at the top of the feed. You can't see it in this screenshot because you scrolled down beforehand.
It is unknown when this change will be available. This is currently in test run. It is therefore entirely possible that it will never be implemented in this form. Nevertheless, it is safe to assume that Instagram will increase its focus on videos.
