Instagram has overhauled its website to improve usability on desktop computers and larger screens.

The new design, which is gradually being rolled out to all users, is primarily intended to make navigation and switching between different tabs, which was previously rather cumbersome, easier. At the same time, a new feature, “Scheduled Posts”, has been launched that has been longed for by its community for a long time.

“Clearer, faster, easier”

“We know that many people use the internet to multitask and therefore want to ensure that our website offers the best possible user experience in this regard,” explains Instagram boss Adam Mosseri in a video on the occasion of the launch of the new homepage design and new features -Statement on Twitter. Your own site is now more clearly structured and much faster and easier to use. “The new look takes advantage of larger screens, which are increasingly becoming the norm,” emphasizes the company boss.

If you are familiar with the old design of the Instagram website, it might actually take some time to find your way around the new site. While menus for posting messages or viewing reels were previously firmly anchored at the top of the page, these are now positioned in a side bar on the screen. This will expand or shrink based on the screen size being used.

Instagram: Post can be planned in advance

In addition to the new website look, the Instagram community can also look forward to a feature that many content producers and social media managers have been waiting for for a long time: Scheduled Posts. This feature, which was already tested for business accounts in August, allows users to plan their posts in advance directly in the Instagram app. “You asked for it and we listened. With the new planning tool you can plan a photo, carousel posts and Reels up to 75 days in advance,” says the Instagram Creators account.
