For several years we have been reporting again and again about so-called profile viewers on Facebook, which supposedly allow you to see who has visited your profile. The scam is apparently successful, because there are always curious users who click on these links, then only have to enter their login details again... and then believe that they have been “hacked”, even though they themselves gave their login details to the fraudsters.
But these profile viewers cannot technically work at all, and what's worse is that your login details are passed on to fraudsters. Now this scam has also arrived on Instagram.

The lure

On Instagram, some accounts ask you to click on a specific link to see who has visited your profile:

You should click on the link to the “Profile Viewer”.
You should click on the link to the “Profile Viewer”.

See profile visitors on Instagram ” is the promise. “ It’s really funny how many familiar faces browse around on my profile. Look for yourself who visits each other .”

The trap

If you tap on the link, you will be taken to a page that only looks like Instagram, but is actually the trap:

A fake Instagram page
A fake Instagram page

First it shows how many profile visitors you supposedly had in the last week to further stimulate curiosity, then you should log in. But you should avoid this if possible, as the fraudsters will then have your login details!

Instagram belongs to Meta (formerly Facebook), and such profile viewers are not technically possible main platform In the best case scenario, you might see which friends interacted with your account and how often, but in most cases you'll just be redirected back to the main page or get an "error message." The fraudsters don't care whether you are disappointed because they now have your data and can do whatever they want with the account.

Conclusion

It didn't exist, doesn't exist, never will. Never. In 100% of all cases, such so-called profile viewers were and are only looking for your login data in order to take over the accounts and spread further scams, for example by writing to your friends and asking for money or spreading harmful links - in your name!

So please curb your curiosity and never click on such links - because you will definitely be disappointed and lose your account.
