Instagram boss Adam Mosseri announced the global launch of Instagram Notes:
What are Instagram Notes?
Instagram Notes is a feature that allows users to post short texts up to 60 characters long, consisting only of text and emojis. To write this, navigate to your inbox and select either followers or people on your close friends list.
Notes do not appear in the feed, but are only displayed for the selected group. And that for 24 hours – similar to Stories. Replies to Notes are received as direct messages in your inbox.
Meta explains what led to this new feature blog post
“During testing, we found that users value an easy way to share their thoughts and start conversations. From asking for recommendations to sharing news, notes provide a casual and spontaneous way to express yourself and connect with others.”
Group profiles and candidate stories
Further functions are planned. For example, there will soon be group profiles. This creates a shared profile with friends, colleagues, etc. - If you release content for such a group profile, it will only be displayed to the members and not released to all followers.
Candid Stories may remind some users of “BeReal”. Candid is intended to be a way for you and your friends to record and share what you are doing in a story. However, this is only visible to those who also share their own Candid Story. A daily notification so that you don't forget about your Candid Story is also possible.
