A video recently uploaded to YouTube is causing a stir: a doctor claims that there are no people in Italy who have died from the new coronavirus.
An Italian doctor says in a video that there are no real deaths from the new coronavirus
He speaks of 11 deaths, but there are now almost 3,000 deaths in Italy.
In fact, the video is from the end of February; the doctor's views at the time have now been overtaken by reality.
The video was uploaded to YouTube on March 15 and is blatantly titled "CORONAVIRUS IN ITALY NO ONE HAS DIED - HOSPITAL DIRECTOR CONFIRMS THIS". We have a screenshot of the video in our cover photo.
In the video, the doctor says in Italian that none of the 11 patients who died died of COVID-19; the video is simultaneously translated into German by a voiceover.

The age of the video
11 dead? This can make you suspicious, because when the video was uploaded to YouTube (March 15th) there were already 1,441 deaths in Italy, whereas there were 11 deaths between February 26th and 27th.

This is because the video is also from the end of February and has now simply been uploaded again. This is probably why the uploader deactivated the comments - after all, no one should point out the age of the video.
The video is from February 26, 2020 and shows an interview with the doctor from the “ Genova 24 ” website.
Matteo Bassetti – His opinion then and now
The doctor's name is Matteo Bassetti and he is head of the “San Martino” infectious disease clinic in Genoa. In the interview, which was also recorded in writing on “ Genova 24 ,” he says that the new coronavirus is no worse than a normal flu and that the government’s precautionary measures are excessive.
Today, however, he is no longer quite so convinced of his own advice. Although, as can be seen from his Facebook page , he still doesn't think much of the measures taken, for which he is criticized by many users, he is now also giving valuable advice for mothers with infants regarding the new coronavirus, for example.
In this respect, he is not stubbornly sticking to his position from the end of February, when the situation in Italy still looked relatively harmless compared to today, but he himself has recognized the seriousness of the situation.

Conclusion
The uploaded video was already three weeks old when it was republished on YouTube - considering the developments, this was essentially an eternity ago. The doctor's views at the time have now clearly been overtaken by reality.
The video is therefore just a sad attempt to spread a false sense of security and portray the pandemic as scaremongering.
