Chalk marks on house walls and fences! The police warned of “crooks” in 2019.
In Klein Bartensleben, two Mercedes vans are said to have driven through the town on June 5, 2019, leaving chalk marks on some fences and gates. It is said to have been a silver-colored and a red Mercedes Vito, each of which had two people in it.
Such chalk marks are also known as so-called “crooks’ tines” and serve as a secret communication between crooks. Among other things, they provide information about whether a break-in is worthwhile.
If you notice such signs, there is no need to panic.
It doesn't mean a break-in is imminent. However, it is recommended to remove these characters.
