The claim
A sharepic claims that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe distributed ivermectin to the population instead of vaccinations, which is why he was murdered.
Our conclusion
Japan sent the vaccine doses back because they were contaminated, Abe was no longer prime minister at the time, and ivermectin was never an alternative to vaccinations or cures in Japan.
On July 8, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was gunned down at a campaign rally and died shortly afterwards. The perpetrator cited hatred of a religious sect supported .
But there is another reason circulating in the world of conspiracy believers: Abe is said to have been murdered because he sent back 1.6 million vaccine doses and distributed ivermectin to the population instead. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this claim!
The claim about Abe
The claim has been shared as a sharepic since shortly after Abe's death:

The text on the sharepic:
“Assasinated Japanese PM didn't follow WEF orders. Didn't mandate vaccines, sent 1.6 million doses back and gave citizens ivermectin. Make sense now? – The assassinated Japanese prime minister did not follow WEF instructions. He didn't mandate vaccines, sent back 1.6 million doses and gave citizens ivermectin. Does that make sense now?”
Did Japan send back 1.6 million vaccine doses?
Yes.
In August 2021, contaminants were discovered in nearly 40 doses of the Moderna vaccine at eight different locations, resulting in a total of 1.6 million vaccine doses being returned to Moderna. An unknown amount of the doses have already been administered, but no health problems have been reported.
Was the return of the doses initiated by Shinzo Abe?
No.
As mentioned above, it was about contaminated doses, not about a rejection of the vaccines. The return happened in August 2021, but Shinzo Abe resigned from office in August 2020 was his successor in October 2020 .
Did Abe prevent compulsory vaccination in Japan and was ivermectin distributed?
No.
There is also a mistranslation in the German text part of the Sharepic: “mandate vaccines” in this context does not mean “vaccines prescribed” (Google Translate was apparently used here), but “vaccinations prescribed” in the sense of compulsory vaccinations.
There have been no compulsory vaccinations in Japan since 1994 , and corona vaccinations were not mandatory either. Despite this, the country has an impressive vaccination rate of 83 percent on average .
However, the dewormer ivermectin has never been used as an alternative to vaccinations in Japan ( we reported ), nor is it now listed . On the contrary there are warnings against using ivermectin against Covid-19.
Conclusion
The claim on the Sharepic is therefore false in all respects:
Japan sent the vaccine doses back because they were contaminated, Abe was no longer Prime Minister at the time, and Ivermectin was never an alternative to vaccinations or healing in Japan.
