Various images are currently being shared on social media in which you can see a Ukrainian jet. Apparently to avoid radar, the Ukrainian pilot flew his SU-27 so low that it even hit a street sign, which can be seen on the underside of the jet, near the turbine engines.

The picture is making the rounds on Facebook, TikTok and Twitter, as you can also see here in this tweet:

Fact check: the street sign in conjunction with an SU-27 jet

The pictures are real, but do not come from the 2022 Ukraine War, but from a military exercise on August 27, 2020. This exercise was broadcast by “THC” on August 28, 2020, among others. The video can be found on YouTube. (minute 00:47)

According to the report, the Ukrainian jet destroyed a road sign while landing on a highway as part of an exercise.

In 2020, Business Insider also reported on it ( HERE ) and the “Defence Blog” on Twitter

Conclusion:

The images of the Ukrainian SU-27 jet are not in the context of the current Ukrainian war, but show an SU-27 jet from July 27, 2020. The jet collided with a road sign during a military exercise.
