The claim

Biden only faked his corona vaccination. Proof of this is said to be a photo that shows Biden with a tattoo on his upper arm. This tattoo is missing from the pictures of his vaccination. Therefore it cannot be the same person in the two photos.

Our conclusion

The claim is false. The picture with the tattoo comes from the satirical website “The Onion” and has been circulating as a meme online for over 10 years. Joe Biden doesn't have a tattoo. He also had his corona vaccination refresher, as both photos and videos show.

Is it really Joe Biden who got vaccinated, or does he have a doppelganger?

A comparison of two photos is currently being shared on Facebook, which is intended to prove that Biden, rather than someone else, got the vaccination.

In the picture on the left, the US President can be seen shirtless and with a tattoo on his left upper arm. The image on the right, however, is a snapshot of Biden's booster vaccination. However, there is no tattoo visible here, which is why users on Facebook are asking: “Joe Biden has been vaccinated again. But where has his tattoo gone?” It suggests that the US President faked his vaccination

Joe Biden doesn't have a tattoo - picture came from a satirical article from 2009

As the German Press Agency reports in its fact checking , the picture with Biden's tattoo comes from the American satire website “The Onion ”. This fact was discovered using a reverse image search. The picture comes from 2009 , when Joe Biden was vice president under Barack Obama. According to the New York Times the satirical website received over half a million page views after it invented a story: Joe Biden was said to have washed his car shirtless in front of the White House.

Just like this story, the tattoo on his arm was also invented in this context, because the US President still doesn't have a single one. The image of shirtless and tattooed Biden has been edited and has been spreading online as an Internet meme since 2009.

It kept popping up over the years. The British newspaper The Guardian also used it as the cover photo of that article when reporting on Joe Biden's meme culture in an article.

Biden actually received a booster shot

The analysis also shows: The photo on the right was certainly taken at the moment when the President of the United States had himself boosted. This can be shown in a video that was also recorded at the time of the vaccination. Compared to the photo shared (right) on Facebook, Biden's black mask, light blue shirt and white-blue tie match.

There is also no tattoo or anything similar on the video or recording where Biden received his first vaccination

In the past, it has often been the case that articles from satirical websites such as “The Postillo n” or “The Onion” were taken seriously.

Conclusion: The claim is false. The picture with the tattoo comes from the satirical website “The Onion” and has been circulating as a meme online for over 10 years. Joe Biden doesn't have a tattoo. He also had his corona vaccination refresher, as both photos and videos show.
