The true story of this little girl

Right after the “ baby with the cancer ,” she is probably the most famous child who is unfortunately repeatedly abused for untrue status posts.

It's about this photo:

It has been shared and re-uploaded again and again for 7 years. The lure is through emotional blackmail - if you don't share the photo, you're probably in favor of violence against children, which means you're also a bad person.

And what is used here as a symbolic image to illustrate what violence against children looks like is a real girl whose story probably doesn't seem worth mentioning.

Anyone who takes the trouble to research the photo of the girl will quickly learn that this child was not a victim of adult violence, but beaten up by a 2-year-old .

It all started in 2011

At that time, a user wrote that this little girl was allegedly beaten by her parents. Plus the already obligatory sentence: “Like & Share if you are against abuse”.

2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 - in all these years the picture kept making the rounds on social media. Katie Ann Guttridge was just 3 years old in 2011. In other words, she should be 10 years old today.

The fact that she was allegedly beaten by her parents is an untruth. The photo was copied by MailOnline and has been circulating ever since.

She was not beaten or abused by her parents!

The abuse itself has been taking place in various social networks for years! The photo is repeatedly used to generate LIKES. As a “liker”, do you get the feeling that you have done something GOOD when you mark such pictures with a “like”?

Result

Little Katie is used on Facebook as a symbolic image against violence against children, but sharing children's images in a completely wrong context is also a form of abuse.

The users are also led into a moral conflict, as one could subjectively read through the text that one in favor of violence against children if one did not share and like.

The site operator ultimately enriches himself from this status post by misusing the photo of a girl as clickbait.
