This information now emerges from a blog entry by WABetaInfo , in which it is announced that the developers of WhatsApp are working on a way to save self-deleting messages before they disappear again.

“WhatsApp is working on introducing retained messages!
Thanks to this feature, you can keep missing messages even after they expire!”

In the blog post, WABetaInfo further writes that with these “kept messages” (“kept messages”) the automatic deletion, which corresponds to the property of self-deleting messages, can be prevented for all people within a chat.
In WhatsApp groups, administrators have the option to restrict this function.

Illogical?

Yes, at first glance it seems completely illogical why you can send self-deleting messages on the one hand, but then you can keep them again using another feature.

Since this feature is currently in development, it is still unclear when it will be available to all users. There may also be more information and details as this feature develops.
