Fake competitions as far as the eye can see. This summer, competition providers promise a lot - but there is rarely a real prize. As with this alleged adidas competition.
This is also the case with this competition, which supposedly has 5,000 pairs of adidas shoes to give away:

So let's take a closer look at this promise:
If you follow the link, you will be taken to an external page with a link that seems okay.
You start with a short round of questions in which three questions are asked, with the third of the possible answers defying German grammar (Don't remember, instead of I don't remember...). We already know this question round from countless other competition fakes. They are intended to support the character of a real competition, so that the participant has the feeling that there is really something to win here.

If you have answered all three questions, the competition promises us a chance to win a pair of the coveted brand shoes. Now you should share this competition and leave a comment:

However, in our test round the promised profit did not materialize. After you press Share, the wheel under “Check Steps” continues to spin. The path to free shoes ends here:

The comments that can be found at the bottom of the page are also interesting.
Some of the profile pictures and names look familiar to us from other competitions. They seem to compete everywhere and always win.
Also the statement: “It was busy at the Adidas counter. It seems that many luminaries have won these shoes.” is very similar to one of the comments from the free ticket competitions .
The reason is that these comments were not written by real people. They are generated automatically and are intended to lull participants into thinking that others have already won something.

What can happen if the page doesn't hang:
You will be redirected to a page where you can see an input mask. These are called affiliate programs .
Because the Adidas competition only represents a bridge to the actual goal. A bait, so to speak, to get the participants to type their data into an input mask at the end. The content of these baits does not have to agree with the affiliate. But what exactly happens with an affiliate?
You leave the bridge via a link that contains a partner code that belongs to a commission program (affiliate). This affiliate is not illegal . False promises, on the other hand, do.
These are business models in which the respective provider of such programs compensates its sales partners through commissions. These sales partners are recognized by the provider through an identification code, so that every newly registered participant in the affiliate competition can also be assigned to the sales partner.
By the way, the person who designs the bridge freely decides which partner program he uses as an exit. We also often find systems that read the participant's origin and device information and thus direct them specifically to different commission programs. Therefore, you can never say clearly which commission program will ultimately be used; in the worst case, you will end up with dubious WAP billing stories or opaque subscription services.
Result:
In the end, there is nothing to be won in this type of competition.
No free tickets, no cars and no free adidas shoes.
Only take part in competitions where the competition provider is transparent. Missing participation conditions and spelling mistakes as well as poor grammar are taboo!
