#KekeChallenge - The hashtag of a summer trend that the police in Germany are now warning about, albeit under a different name
Just a week ago we reported on an edited video that was supposed to show how a woman was run over during the “Keke Challenge”. Apparently this trend has now spread to Germany, so that the Osnabrück police asked on Twitter not to imitate it:
The whole of Twitter has been dancing to the Kiki Challenge for weeks. The trend involves people jumping out of moving cars and dancing! For us, however, the new trend is anything but harmless! ☝️ #kikidoyouloveme #kikichallenge #inmyfeelingschallenge #sicherfuerdich #polizeiosnabrück pic.twitter.com/vRuKZ2ZfBq

“The whole of Twitter has been dancing to the Kiki Challenge for weeks. The trend involves people jumping out of moving cars and dancing! For us, however, the new trend is anything but harmless!”
...so warns the Osnabrück police on Twitter .
What kind of challenge is that supposed to be?
At the end of June 2018, musician Drake's new album called “Scorpion” was released. One of the most popular songs on the album is called “ In my feelings ”. The comedian “ Shiggy ” then recorded a video in which he jumps out of the slow-moving car and uses dance movements to mimic the lyrics of the song. As a result, many users felt inspired to imitate it... which is not entirely without danger, especially if the road is also used by other drivers (which, as far as we know, is usually the case).
Keke? Kiki? Now what's true?
Let's be pedantic here: Even though both the police and other (German-speaking) media write about "Kiki", the challenge is still called "Keke". It was named after the adored lady in the first line of the song, who is nicknamed “Keke”. Drake is (probably) singing about his first girlfriend Keshia Chanté , whom he calls “Keke”. So #KekeChallenge has also become established as a trend, while #KikiChallenge hashtags are now appearing, but they mean the same challenge.
Even more precise
“Yes, but the pronunciation! Keke would be pronounced “Kaykay” in English, so “Kiki” must be correct!”, some people might reply. That is probably the reason why many write “Kiki”. This would only be true if Drake sang about “KK,” but he uses the first two letters of his first girlfriend’s first name to create the nickname “Keke.” In this respect, the spelling “Keke” is correct, but it is pronounced “Kiki”.
But it could also be different: In the second line of text he asks “KB” if he loves her. This probably K'yanna Barber , who has been rumored to be dating Drake since last year. Then “Keke” and “Kiki” and “KB” are one and the same person.
Whether Keke or Kiki... it just doesn't matter
As funny as it may be, if you absolutely have to, don't do this challenge on the open road, but rather roll slowly in an empty parking lot and dance there. Then you won't get run over, but you could still end up like this lady here:
