Reports of kidnapped girls lead to fraudulent sites

The location information sometimes varies. “Little Julia” has been missing here for 3 days. The text is identical for both reports, only the location is different: Frankfurt and Switzerland.

A supposed Sky News article also reports about a kidnapped girl named Julia. Here, however, she is 5 years old and is missing in Berlin.

From the links listed in the reports, you can quickly see that these are not domains of reputable news sites such as Sky News ( https://news.sky.com /).

Be careful, phishing!

If you click on such a link, you will land on a fake newspaper article from Spiegel about the alleged kidnapping. You can easily tell that this is NOT a Spiegel page by looking at the URL at the top of the address bar. The URL of the mirror is: https://www.spiegel.de/

If you now want to watch the video that supposedly shows the kidnapping, the phishing trap appears. The video is marked “+18” (18 years and older).

You are asked to log in via Facebook to confirm your age, but you are still on the fake site!

Your login details are then given to fraudsters, who then have full access to your Facebook account... and there is never a video to be seen; after apparently logging in, you are simply redirected to the official Facebook page.

Conclusion

The article about the kidnapped girl is purely a lure to get users' login details. Users who clicked on the video and entered their real login details should change their Facebook password as soon as possible!
