The Verden public prosecutor's office and the Hanover police report a successful search: 13 suspects who ordered orders using spied-out credit card details and illegally obtained postal numbers were arrested.
often report in which credit card details are spied out. In this current case you can see what can happen with the data. As the press office of the Hanover Police Department reports, the search has now been successful.
Investigators from the Central Criminal Police Service (ZKD) Hanover, in collaboration with the public prosecutor's office (StA) Verden and Deutsche Post AG, managed to identify a total of 13 perpetrators after illegally spying on DHL customer numbers (so-called postal numbers).
According to the current status of the investigation, the ZKD Hannover received various reports from damaged companies around the turn of the year after internet fraudsters apparently ordered goods using spied-out credit cards and illegally obtained postal numbers. The perpetrators had the ordered items delivered to DHL Packstations. In order to get the goods out of the boxes, the internet fraudsters had previously gained unauthorized access to private users' DHL accounts. In the accounts, the perpetrators changed the cell phone accessibility of the users in order to obtain the so-called mTAN for opening the DHL Packstation. Using fake customer cards and the mTAN, the perpetrators were able to remove the illegally ordered goods from the packing stations.
After an extensive process, investigators from the ZKD and the StA Verden managed to obtain twelve search warrants for the Hanover region. During the searches, investigators were able to seize numerous goods that had been ordered without authorization or had not been paid for. The evaluation of the loot is currently still ongoing. The damage caused is estimated at a medium to high five-figure sum.
The proceedings are currently directed against 13 suspects between the ages of 16 and 34, who now have to answer for, among other things, computer fraud, goods fraud, violations of the Weapons Act (blank firearm), the Narcotics Act (ecstasy) and Explosives Act (unauthorized firecrackers). As part of this process, the investigators also managed to clear up another series to the detriment of Deutsche Bahn AG. The perpetrators had purchased train tickets worth 8,000 euros using stolen credit cards. /has, pu
