A fraud warning is currently being sent via WhatsApp, among other things. This warns about a law firm Schmidt and colleagues (KS). This is a law firm from Munich that sends fraudulent demand letters. Apparently you registered over the phone for a service contract “EURO LOTTO ZENTRALE EURO JACKPOT-6/49”.

The WhatsApp message as wording: “Attention fraud: Today I received a “pre-trial reminder” from a (non-existent) law firm Schmidt and colleagues (KS) from Munich. The reminder refers to a service contract “EURO LOTTO ZENTRALE EURO JACKPOT-6/49” that I allegedly concluded over the phone and an allegedly outstanding claim of €289.50 including reminder costs, to be paid by April 13th.”
The police are also currently warning on this topic: “Beware of fraudulent reminder letters.”
As the police were informed on Wednesday, several people in the Sömmerda district received warning letters from a Munich law firm. In this they were asked to transfer 289.50 euros for a lottery subscription. ( Source )
If the injured parties did not comply with the payment request, they were threatened with further legal consequences. The warning given to a man from Sömmerda who had died several years ago was particularly bold. The police advise you not to pay the money claim under any circumstances and to report the fraud.
The consumer advice center has also published a press release on this topic: “Lots of fraudulent letters from KS Rechtsanwälte in circulation”
- A law firm named Schmidt and colleagues from Munich is currently sending fraudulent letters of demand.
- Those affected allegedly registered by telephone for a service contract “EURO LOTTO ZENTRALE EURO JACKPOT-6/49”.
- The consumer advice center advises not to be intimidated and not to pay unjustified claims.
The Rhineland-Palatinate consumer advice center is currently receiving a mass number of inquiries about a letter of demand from the law firm Schmidt and colleagues for alleged competition registrations. The recipients should pay around 290 euros by direct debit. The letter of demand is entitled “Pre-judicial warning”. Attached is a cancellation form with a SEPA direct debit mandate. However, this can only be submitted by fax or QR code. The consumer advice center advises not to pay dubious and unjustified claims. With the debt collection check from the consumer advice center www.inkasso-check.de, debt collection claims can be checked free of charge.
Apparently a service contract “EURO LOTTO ZENTRALE EURO JACKPOT-6/49” was concluded by registering by telephone and providing personal data. The law firm threatens to initiate a reminder, an enforcement notice, compulsory enforcement by bailiffs, seizure of wages and other horror scenarios. “These are empty threats. A seizure is not possible without a legally binding title such as an enforcement order or a court judgment,” says Jennifer Kaiser, consumer law consultant at the consumer advice center. “The fact that these payment requests are fraud can also be seen from the fact that the letter does not contain any specific information about the alleged creditor. Those affected should therefore not allow themselves to be intimidated and should under no circumstances pay the claim.”
The letters contain some inconsistencies. The office of the law firm will be on Maximilianstrasse in Munich. However, no mail should take place there. This is intended to prevent those affected from defending themselves against the claim in writing. If you call the phone number provided, you will be informed that a mailbox has been activated and that you can leave a message. A website or email address is not even provided. ( Source )
