The Likebait scam is still working on Facebook. This young lady is also being abused to collect clicks.

We received inquiries about a status post on Facebook about a young lady who is supposedly asking for birthday wishes because she is perceived as not beautiful because she is missing an arm.

This is what this post is about:

Image in plain text:

Hi, I'm Jenny. Today is my birthday. But no one wanted me yet. Because they think I am disabled and not beautiful. I am smiling. But sad in my heart. MIMIKAMA

Can I get some best wishes?

Shared over 146,000 times – around 31,000 likes and no one knows the true identity of “Jenny”. But they all congratulate her like lemmings on her birthday and are not aware that they have just fallen for a Likebait.

A fact check

A reverse search helps find out who “Jenny” really is.

Here we see a photo of Ashley Fisher . In an interview with Yahoo! Lifestyle we learn that Ashley isn't as sad as the Likebait post claims.

She lost her arm in a car accident when she was a toddler, but that doesn't stop her from having the best life she can. She is studying and is already the mother of a wonderful daughter. She not only runs a successful Instagram account with 80,000 followers, but also a YouTube channel .

In this video she explains how she lost her arm:

So why do people steal photos of actually happy people?

a leg is often - or both arms.

Users are shamelessly emotionally blackmailed by these Likebait creators to give their page a boost. More likes, more shares, more interaction, better reach.

Nevertheless, this in no way justifies using other people's images, inventing a new story and thereby manipulating other people. You can find out more about this topic here .

Ashley Fisher doesn't need pity, she's fine and living the life she wants.

Result:

This is a so-called Likebait post on Facebook.

Jenny doesn't have that name and doesn't ask for congratulations or feel deeply sad. Your photo was stolen and given new context – not cool!
