First check: How good do Lindt, Milka, Ritter Sport taste?
We're competing: Lidl and Rewe's affordable own brands. Significantly more expensive: Milka and Ritter Sport. And by far the most expensive: Lindt's whole milk chocolate. 100 visitors to the SWR Summer Festival can try and vote for their favorite chocolate with a ball each. Which chocolate does best?
Second check: quality Lindt chocolate
The Lindt chocolate is examined by chocolatier Eberhard Schell and chocolate sommelier and member of the Grand Jury of the International Chocolate Awards Michaela Schupp. What is tested is the smell, how the chocolate breaks, the processing and how the chocolate melts, and the taste of the chocolate. Which chocolate convinces the experts?
Third check: Marketing and prices at Lindt & Sprüngli
While the price of other chocolate brands is written on the shelf, there is often no price visible for Lindt products. Instead, there is a recommended retail price on the Lindt packaging. The dealers usually follow this. When comparing prices, it is worthwhile for consumers to pay attention to the basic price - depending on the packaging, the prices sometimes differ significantly.
Fourth check: nutrients
The 200g Gold Bunny contains 108g sugar. However, the WHO recommends a maximum of 50g of sugar per day, and even just 25g is ideal. What other ingredients are contained in the various Lindt products? How healthy is dark chocolate really and what role does the cocoa content in chocolate play?
Fifth check: fairness
While other chocolate brands advertise with seals such as Fairtrade, UTZ or Rainforest Alliance, none of these seals can be found on Lindt chocolate. Instead, Lindt relies on its own “Farming Program”. What's it all about? And under what circumstances do farmers work for Lindt?
