He paid the required 150 euros by credit card and received his beloved deep fryer a short time later. However, it was not delivered by the provider the man had ordered from, but by a department store group.

So far so good!

The buyer has his deep fryer, the seller his money. But then a reminder from the department store landed in the man's mailbox. He was surprised because he had properly paid for the deep fryer.

So what had happened?

This emerged after various phone calls with the marketplace operator. Apparently the provider had gratefully accepted the customer's money and ordered the deep fryer from the department store in his name, which was then delivered to the injured party.

What the fraudster didn't do, however, was forward the money received from the customer to the department store.

According to the fraud officer's findings, this scam is now becoming more and more popular. The fraudsters are mainly based in China and cannot be approached under criminal law. The injured party now has the problem that the department store wants the money for the deep fryer that was delivered and the online marketplace sees the matter as settled.

The consequence that the injured party draws from this: in the future he will avoid the marketplace and look for other sources for his purchases.
