We are currently receiving various inquiries about an article that has been shared on Facebook for days.
A man was allegedly killed by his own cell phone.

This was published by the website “Fassungslos” which we had already reported . Back then, however, in a different context.
Was a man killed by his cell phone?
No! The video that you can see on this page is a (now) award-winning prevention spot from the Lausanne police with the support of the bfu - Advice Center for Accident Prevention [ 1].
Distraction is involved in 1 out of 4 accidents in Switzerland. Anyone who listens to music with headphones or chats on their smartphone has a poorer perception of their surroundings. 15 to 30 year olds are particularly affected.
Actually, no joke
Unfortunately, the reason for such a video is of a serious nature: other cities have also thought about accident prevention in relation to careless smartphone users. For example, the SZ reports that flashing red lights at two tram stops in Augsburg are intended to help improve safety. [ 2]
Here is the video from bfu, bpa, ipi
Description of the video:

Jonas, 24, disappears before your eyes. You've never seen anything like this!
Jonas is a boy of 24, he likes to listen to music and chat with his friends on his cell phone. Even in road traffic as a pedestrian. But the distraction of his smartphone doesn't end well...
The commercial from the Lausanne police with the support of the bfu – Advice Center for Accident Prevention and other partners shockingly shows the impact of inattention in road traffic.
The need for action is great: distraction is involved in 1 out of 4 accidents in Switzerland. Anyone who listens to music with headphones or chats on their smartphone has a poorer perception of their surroundings. 15 to 30 year olds are particularly affected.
