Saudi Arabian television did not censor Angela Merkel's hairstyle - even if a sharepic may claim so.
Merkel’s hair censored – The most important thing to start with:
- A sharepic claims that Saudi Arabian television "pixelated" Angela Merkel's hair.
- It is a satire from 2017.
When it comes to the reminder function on Facebook, topics that have almost been forgotten always get a new lease of life and then float through social media as current cases.
Something similar happened with the following sharepic, which looks extremely familiar to us:

“Saudi Arabian television was forced to pixelate Angela Merkel’s hair to prevent sexual arousal of the masses.”
The fact check
Sharepic is not new. It has been circulating since May 2017. ( we reported )
Of course, Angela Merkel's hairstyle was not censored. She did not wear a headscarf during her visit to Saudi Arabia, nor were any photos retouched or mosaiced. ( see here )

The claim comes from a tabloid magazine that has written various fun articles in the past. Unfortunately the original post is no longer available today. ( see here )
At the time, the creators were amused by those who had made a mistake and taken the satire at face value.
Conclusion:
The claim is not only old, but also satirical. The fact that the original source no longer exists makes it all the more difficult to expose the sharepic as satire.
It is all the more important to research for yourself whether a post is wrong or not and not to put your full trust in any sharepic.
